Department of Theatre Arts and Dance (TAD) classrooms encompass the studio, the stage, and the production laboratory to provide students ample opportunity to choreograph, design, create, and perform. Faculty, of national and international renown, pride themselves on creating deeply-personalized learning experiences dedicated to the development and future success of all our students. TAD offers liberal arts Bachelor degrees (BA/BS) in theatre and dance and a professional Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre Design & Technology, Classical Acting, and Musical Theatre.  is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD).

We are sponsoring a free, action-packed day of dance for high school dancers!
Please join us for:
  • Jazz, Modern, Improvisation, & Ballet Masterclasses taught by SUU Dance Faculty
  • Attendance of a special matinee performance of our Fall Student Dance Concert
  • Q&A with SUU Student Choreographers and SUU Dance Faculty
Registration for the day begins at 8:30 a.m. with classes and activities taking place 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Our Faculty & Students:

Prof. Nick Blaylock’s dance piece Slog Dreams was selected for the 2019 American College Dance Association’s West Gala Concert and performed by SUU dance majors. This makes five times in the past seven years that SUU has been selected for the Gala Concert by ACDA.

Prof. Russ Benton played the Pharaoh in USF’s 2019 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and William Jaggard and Sir Edward Dering in the Book of Will.

Isabella Able Sauez – Acting Intern for Milwaukee Rep’s production of West Side Story Tony Carter- Most recently at Oregon Cabaret and Paramount Theatre now at Indiana Actors Theatre, Ruben Pina- Lighting Intern Seattle Children's Theatre, Teeq Hill- scenic Artist Alliance Theatre, and freelance actor, Amanda Dayton - received an MFA in Acting from the University of Central Florida, Natalia Castilia- promoted to the head position of Makeup at Cirque Beatle Love, Noel Perry- hired the Parowan High School Theatre Educator, Matthew Ainsworth – hired as the drama/history teacher at Lava Ridge Intermediate School, Emily Smith- moved from freelancing as scenic artist and working at Lookingglass Theatre Company and other theatres in Chicago to Ravenswood Studio, Halie (Merrill) Robinson- Just finished the production of My Name is Rachel Corrie with Jacaranda Collective.
